Meet Charlie Roetting
/How are you involved with Improv Cincinnati?
At IC, I am always open to step in with a jam team, I perform with Sean Dillon on Fractal Rock, as well as with Veracity though I am on hiatus. I have taught classes on character and game, and I am a company member.
When did you start doing improv?
I think we all started improvising long before we even knew a name for it, just doing bits with friends. But my first knowing attempt at improv was as a Freshman at Northern Kentucky University, first semester Acting I. A year later I auditioned for and became a member of NKU's improv team.
What is your favorite thing about improv?
It's difficult for me to come up with one specific thing about improv that is my favorite. So let's go with... I really like when teams lock in with one another and they start seeing the whole show and not just the scene that's happening. The intellectual connections, the callbacks, the game play, the discovery and exploration that occurs when that happens. That might be my favorite thing.
Do you have any fun facts you'd like to share?
Fun facts about me? I've played guitar for about 16 years or it might be 18. I have a gorgeous cat named Moose. My top 5 musical artists are Tom Waits, Sam Cooke, Queen, Sublime, and Eyedea. My favorite comedian is Matt Gourley.
